We had to suppress our feelings, certain qualities and also the pain related to our self-betrayal because it would have been unbearable to constantly face it. Very few caretakers love their children unconditionally and accept all their traits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So we had to suppress everything that was not welcomed and adopt qualities that pleased our caretakers. Which seemingly became ours but actually didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 Since most of us didn&#8217;t feel neither physically nor emotionally held we turned to our mind for support to feel comforted and developed a close relationship with it. Our mind&#8217;s main purpose is to keep us safe and to distract us from our emotional pain that seems life-threatening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Unfortunately that creates a lot of suffering since it prevents us from connecting authentically to ourselves and others. We have lost touch with our body, our feelings and our inner guidance system like intuition, inspiration, gut feeling and heart intelligence and believe that we can solve and grasp everything with the mind.
